Managers or Leaders : that's the question

Managers and leaders : both are senior professionals and supporting teams and needed in organisations. What is the difference?

Managers and leaders : both are senior professionals and supporting teams and needed in organisations.

A reflection and a try to make a visual summary:
1️⃣ Difference Between Them:

Supervisors/Executives: All supervisors and executives require skills from the four domains, albeit not all at the same level. The personal domain is crucial because it fosters authenticity and trust.
Leaders vs. Managers: Leaders inspire and drive the team towards a vision, while managers ensure that the team works efficiently towards that vision. Their focus is different, and so is the source of their energy.

2️⃣ The Need for Both:

Balanced Mix: A harmonious blend of leadership and management is preferred. The ratio might vary depending on the company's lifecycle, with scaling and mature companies needing both.
Startups: Tend to have a more leader-centric environment due to the constant need for innovation and direction.

3️⃣ One vs. the Other:

Interdependency: Good leaders aren't always effective managers, and the reverse is also true. Both roles are crucial, especially during scaling phases. As companies grow, there's an increasing demand for structure and processes, which managers are better equipped to handle.

Conclusion : it's not about one or the other. Both are important and few master all skills equally

In a workshop i used another visual to show the need for both. Let me know which one you like :
